Journey to Penang Hill
Saturday, February 5, 2011
Penang Hill is one of the 'must-visit' places in Penang. I had been wanting to go there since two years ago, only last month I was able to go together with friends. From bus station near USM, we took a public bus ; Rapid Penang bus number 101 to go to KOMTAR (RM2.00). From KOMTAR we took bus number 10(RM2.00) that goes to Penang Botanical Gardens. Penang Botanical Garden is only next to entrance of the Penang Hill. From what I was told, there is two entrance that goes to Penang Hill. The first one is the entrance that is next to the Penang Botanical Gardens (bus no 10) and the other entrance is the one that used to have Penang Hill railway that can bring you up to the hill (bus no.201,i think) but at present it is close due to the some upgrade and renovation and it is expected to resume it's operation somewhere in March 2011.
We hired a jeep to go up and it takes approximately about 15 minutes from the bottom to reach the top. The jeep will only costs RM20 each person if you want to spend more than one hour on top.
Journey to Penang Hill was supposed to be an amazing trip but unfortunately due to the minor injury that I had encounter at KOMTAR bus station (slipped my foot), it ruined my mood and definitely I will be going
there again.
I went to eat at David Brown's Restaurant & Tea House and it has a very impressive British style. No doubt that the food there are expensive. I ordered Fish & Chips and the taste was not impressive as the image of the restaurant and they have unfriendly staffs too.
