Sunday, July 19, 2009
Hiking, hiking and hiking! I am loving it and Tasek Recreational Park is definately my favourite place. For me,early in the morning is the perfect time for hiking rather than in the afternoon because early in the morning ,it will be less tiring and less exausting. Agree? Oh yeah, finally I found my charger for my camera :p

Majlis Menghantar Berian (Brunei Wedding)
Friday, July 17, 2009
thats me,second rowTook place last Sunday 10 of July 2009. It was my cousin's Majlis Menghantar Berian(one of the wedding ceremonials for a Brunei Malay wedding)
"Majlis Menghantar Berian means delivering gifts which consists of all the requests during the the engagement ceremony and also include additional gifts by the groom. The bride would also respond in kind. The delivery of the gifts is usually grand affair, with an entourage of men and women (and I was one of those who carry it)carrying silver trays adorned with beautiful cloths on top of which would display each gift." source: Brunei Times

You know why?because the battery is dead!and why I didn't charge the battery?because I misplaced the charger! It sounds ridiculous. Perhaps I should have search my charger in my messy and dusty bedroom. (lol)

Bandar Seri Begawan - In a hard hitting Royal message clearly displeased with the performance of some of his top civil servants the Brunei ruler called their attitude robotic.
They failed to take necessary decisions when mandated to do so, he charged.
In his wide ranging 35-minute royal briefing he also questioned the need for his ministers and deputy ministers to bring large entourage with them to trips abroad.
Perhaps, he feels, it is for their personal benefit. Is that a good idea? He asked. The monarch did not think so. On the other hand a junior officer often travelled alone. Even the embassy in that country would not know about his trip. Is that wise, the ruler asked. Who is going to help him in case of trouble? Being not concerned about the lower rank is not the mark of a good leader.
Some civil servants lack commonsense and are without initiative. All the time they have to be told what to do, the monarch declared in admonishing them.
If they are not told what to do then they would not do anything at all even though they had the mandate to make suitable decisions and take necessary steps that had to do with the safety and the welfare of their officers, the ruler added.
He took the spread of the H1N1 pandemic in the country as an example whereby the heads of departments' defiance in not having the commonsense, ignoring the guidelines set by the Health Ministry, as they continued sending officers abroad.
They were waiting for the directive from the Prime Minister's office on July 7 telling them what to do, the monarch said. But there were some department heads that had the wisdom in not sending their people abroad.
The Brunei ruler was speaking at a briefing of the National Management Disaster Centre in Berakas. He told them to be ready at all times and be on the look out for any potential national disasters such as terrorism, tsunamis or earthquakes.
There have been recently floods, landslides and swine flu pandemic. And these have affected the social activities and resulted in the suspension of the Royal Birthday Celebrations, the ruler told them.

Prevention is better than cure
Thursday, July 2, 2009
You may laugh at me when you saw me wearing that mask. People may look at me and think that I am weird! Prevention is better than cure.Am I right? The number of people being affected by the H1N1 or also known as Swine Flu has increase in our country and it scares me off! Seriously!
In order to keep myself in a safe condition, I had to wear it and so do you. You may not know!
Just want to share today's news headline, extracted from Brudirect.com
BREAKING NEWS:
Bandar Seri Begawan - A record number fell ill with swine flu yesterday in Brunei, bringing the total to 66 cases as the disease began to peak. Twenty-four more people have fallen sick currently, said the Health Ministry.
Meanwhile there has been a far more possibly serious development in the pandemic in Brunei since the outbreak here began on June 20.
The Health Ministry announced that there could be the probability of community transmission of the disease which could turn out to be more threatening.
That means, the disease could reach a dangerous stage whereby it could become homegrown, a more concerned situation.
Previously, the swine flu in Brunei had been coming from abroad so far and therefore it was easier to manage its spread but community transmission is harder to control because it could easily transmit from a local person to one another endangering Brunei far more rapidly.
Meanwhile Health Minister, Pehin Dato Hj Suyoi, has urged the people not to panic.
There is a possibility that a community transmission might have happened in the case of a 15-year-old girl here because she had no history of going out of the country or that of having contact with those who were infected, an official press release said.
In view of that, the ministry, acting quickly, is anaylising an emergency management protocol.
Under the management protocol, people with the disease could be confined to their homes in mild cases and the suitability of home treatment worked out to ensure that there are no close contacts with those with chronic diseases or with pregnant women while strengthening medication.
There is the possibility that the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital, Tutong will become a full fledged isolation centre for the flu for the first time.
Meanwhile, the authorities have analysed the cases who were foreign arrivals. They are, London (9) Kuala Lumpur (8) Kota Kinabalu (6) Johor (1) Lawas (1) Singapore (2) Philippine (2) and Laos (1).
Twenty four people were infected by the foreign arrivals and 12 were still under investigation as to where the virus came from, the ministry said.
The health ministry press release said today alone 24 more people where stricken with the disease, as compared to 10 yesterday indicating a rapid rise as H1N1 continued to rage among Bruneians.
Schools which have been closed for a week since Monday is likely to remain closed for sometime sources indicated.
Following the increase number of cases now in Brunei, the Health Ministry has announced taking various precautionary steps to contain the disease from further spreading.
