Business ethics

Sunday, November 30, 2008

Currently,Im reading a book called 'Islamic Business ethics' by Rafik I.Beekun. I read it for my revision and my exam for 'The principles of Business ethics' will be held on Tuesday morning. I would like to share with you about Prophet Muhammad sabda'.

The Prophet Muhammad(peace upon him) said," The signs of a hypocrite are three. 1) Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie.2) Whenever he promises, he always breaks it (his promise) 3) If you trust him,he proves to be dishonest (if you keep something as a trust with him, he will not return it)

Prophet Muhammad." Whoever (a Muslim) causes harm to dhimmi(non-Muslim) is also causing harm to me(Muhammad); and I shall be his opponent on the Day of Judegement!' All are equal in the eyes of Allah(god)
*based on Islamic business ethics

Well,i will keep on informing about this in my blog. However, I haven't quite prepare for it yet. Myanmmar in memories 2006

May, from Myanmar

Receiving gift from the principal of University of culture

When I attended last Thursday event, I accidently meet a girl from Myanmar. Her name is Myo and she’s a student in University of Brunei and knowing that she’s from Myanmar, I felt overwhelmed and excited to see her partly because I know about the country, and would like to share my views about the country, besides, I had visited the country once, back in 2006.

Myanmmar is one of the countries that I visited together with Santi and the others 28 friends from ASEAN countries. We spent approximately one week in Myanmmar. We visited Myanmmar under a programme called ASEAN Campus Journalist/Leaders Exchange programme Phase 2 from October-November 2006, two years ago. Apart from Myanmmar, we also visited Laos and Bangkok. The journey was fun and it was back then that I started to realize how much I enjoy travelling.

From what I recalled, I saw rather old car on the roads and streets(hardly to see new), a pack of full people in public buses, armies carrying weapons in the hotel where we stayed, affordable gemstones everywhere especially the jade stone ( I like ;) ), seeing people carrying a big tall basket on their shoulder walking up the mountain.

The surroundings are totally different from Brunei yet it is a country surrounded by cultural values sites and heritage and I was stunned with the golden Schwedagon pagodas and the outstanding temples and there are certain things that are just irreplaceable in my head about Myanmmar.. From what I remembered, we visited University of Culture, Home for the aged ( I was touched to see elderly in elder home and spend most of my time cried), Gemstone Museum, National Races Village and spend one night at Bago (top of mountain).

Now,I just wished all of us could meet up again and do a reunion and Im sure it would be great and fun. Miss you, guys :/

Thanks to : Rano, AnakBrunei and Alin

I am being inspired by the speakers both in ‘blog it up’ forum (Muhammad Reeda Hj Malik of anakbrunei.org, Ak Syahreen Pg Metassan of kurapak.com and Rano Iskandar of ranoadidas.com and ‘Pretty in Pink Suits in action’( Frances Lo from LVK Group of companies, Yvonne Kuan from Cedar Management Services Sdn BHd ,Huwaida Dato Hj Ishak from ‘Joie de Vivre and Sri Anne Hj Masri from Remittance@Seconds) today at the Senate Room UBD. ‘

Blog it up’ took the whole morning while the Pretty in Pink Suits in action took the whole of the afternoon. Seriously guys , its much more fun and lucky me at the end of the day, I get 4 souvenirs from the speakers. Memory card reader fro Reeda Malik, courtesy of the Tel Bru, T-shirt from rano adiadas, t-shirt from alin and a free 1 week pass to the lady’s gymnasium. Mostly, I got it by asking questions.. I love the t-shirts,guys The event was happening, lively and fun. Those guys were awesome! Especially the tips given by them to me is priceless

As for ‘Lady Pink Suits in action’, this forum was attended by girls only.. and most of us, wear pink and I find this event quite interesting and unique. The feedback I got for this kinda forum is that in my opinion this kinda forum is really helping me as a youth, as a student to diversify my knowledge and experiences, to learn from the experts, to motivates and light up inspirations within me, to make a different in a good way and it helps to design my future and at the same time the networking itself is the most important thing…frankly speaking for the past few weeks, I attended many forum and guess what, IT’s WORTH YOUR TIME!! Infact it’s MORE than worth t! I learn something new ,meeting new people and observing, see them as a mentor, I salute their positive minded and I love it! Mingling with those positive people make u feel better and makes you feel enthusiastic about life.

Thanks people!!especially the speakers mentioned above as well as Dr.Mona of FBEPS (I really admire them)

A Youth Leadership and Entrepreneurship Forum

Friday, November 7, 2008

Every human being is a leader in their own right’ says Dr.Zulkarnain Hanafi,Vice Chancellor of UBD

Day 1 (6th November 2008)

That’s what more than I expected. I was attending A Youth Leadership and Entrepreneurship Forum in UBD which took the whole day of yesterday and the whole morning of today.I paid only for $20 for attending the inspiring forum and let me tell you, it’s more than worth it. The speeches and the talks are the most fundamental assets that I was looking for. The welcoming speech (yesterday)which was delivered by Dr.Zulkarnain Hanafi, our VC stimulates the spirit in me to become a leader. There are few points that he mentioned that I think will helps for those who seeks to be successful and to improve the inner self. Let me summarizes it

Love what you do, passion

Think of your legacy

Know intentions in life, increase motivation, Don’t expect rewards

Teamwork. Deal with failures

Adaptability to the environment, seek up for the opportunity

Don’t waste time..maintain dignity

Don’t be pessimistic . Go out and learning, be a livelong learner

Have courage to follow the heart

Good values and business and choose it as an instrument for positive change

Achieve success in everything you do. Don’t wait until the opportunity to fall, seek for the opportunity

The programme of a youth leadership and entreprenurship includes pleanary session by Malai Hj Abd Hamid bin Malai Hj Mashhor (the chairman of the Mashhor Group of Companies), HOW TO BE A YOUTH LEADER IN A GLOBAL WORLD delivered by: Ms Hjh Rozana DP Hj Md Yunus (BAG networks) and Ak Kamal Ghadafi bin Pg Suhaimi (Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports) followed by BREAKING INTO TECHNOPRENEURSHIP delivered by Mr.Rano Iskandar(ranoadidas.com) and Mr Keeran bin Janin(Expansys Technologies) and PREPARING FOR WEALTH CREATION WHILST IN SCHOOL delivered by Mr Steven Song (Livewire Brunei) and Dr.Hjh Mona Yati DSLJ Hj Md Kassim( Universiti of Brunei Darussalam)

Overall, I would admit that all of the successful speakers motivates most of the youth that was attending the forum and from my opinion such forum is very helpful in creating and producing better youths

Day 2 (7th November 2008)

Will countinue
